CMW: CAAC to ok private investment in airports
Shanghai - CAAC (Civil Aviation Administraion of China) is working on a new regulation to allow private investment in airports, according to Zhang Guanghui from CAAC.
"Many private companies are paying attention to the construction and operation of airports," said Zhang, whe also warned of the risk. 70% of the airports in China, especially smaller ones in the middle and the west, are losing money and are living on subsidies provided by local government.
Finding investors will be the main task for the airports as subsidies will be officially stopped by the end of this year.
